Wolfgang B. Jurkat

Professor Emeritus Wolfgang B. Jurkat passed away on January 7, 2017 in Ulm, Germany. He joined SU in 1957 and held the title of John Raymond French Professor of Mathematics from 1976 until his resignation in 1990. He initiated an exchange program under which Ulm graduate students study abroad, including at SU.

Phil Church

Professor Emeritus Philip T. Church passed away on July 17, 2015. He joined the department in 1958, was promoted to Francis H. Root Professor in 1976, and retired in 2001 after 43 years of service. Most of the department history articles were written or transcribed by him.
