Dan Zacharia has been named Douglas R. Anderson Faculty Scholar. This award, funded by an anonymous gift to the department, is for a two-year term.

Hsu is named University Scholar

Dylan Hsu (Class of '14, Applied Mathematics and Physics) has been named a University Scholar, the highest undergraduate honor that the University bestows.

Lenny Kamau defends

Leonard Kamau successfully defended his dissertation on Technology adoption in secondary mathematics teaching in Kenya.

The 39th NYS conference for graduate students in mathematics takes place April 12th.

PME Faculty Talk

Pi Mu Epsilon will be hosting a talk by Professor Douglas Anderson titled Knots, Connective Sums, and Seifert Surfaces. It will cover elementary knot theory and is accessible to all undergraduates. The talk will take place in Carnegie Library Rm122 on April 9th. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

The Mathematics of Juggling

Pi Mu Epsilon will be hosting the talk "The Art (and Math) of Juggling" presented by Sam Leitermann. The event will go over the basic mathematical analysis of juggling and includes a live demonstration. This talk is accessible to all undergraduates. The talk will be on April 2nd at 5:15 in Carnegie Rm 122.

PME Go

Pi Mu Epsilon will be joined by members of the Syracuse Go Club. Guest speakers will be giving hands-on instruction on the game of Go. The event will be held in Carnegie Library Rm 120 on February 20th at 5:15 PM. Pizza will be served.
