High School Summer Bridge Program

Duane Graysay is among the leaders of a new program that brought fifteen rising ninth graders to SU campus to encourage them to seek pathways to college and careers in bio-tech fields.

Stephan Wehrli, Simons Foundation

Stephan Wehrli received the Simons Foundation Collaboration grant "Annular link homology, quantum invariants, and Heegaard Floer theory." Congratulations!

The 4th Northeastern Analysis Meeting will be held at Syracuse on October 4-6, 2019. It is supported by the National Science Foundation, College of Arts & Sciences, SU Office of Research, and Mathematics Department. The organizers are Yuan Yuan, Leonid Kovalev, and Jani Onninen.

Erin Tripp defense

Congratulations to Erin Tripp, who successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation Structured Sparsity Promoting Functions: Theory and Applications. Her advisor was Lixin Shen. After graduation Erin will join the Air Force Research Laboratory.

New grants

New NSF awards: Loredana Lanzani won a three-year grant Holomorphic Singular Integrals in Several Complex Variables and Applications. Lixin Shen won a three-year grant Sparse Optimization in Large Scale Data Processing: A Multiscale Proximity Approach. Congratulations!

Directed Reading Program presentations

The final presentation of Directed Reading Program are Tuesday April 30 at 5pm in Carnegie 122. Kevin Aubrey, Emily Dyckman, Sam Wheeler, and Yantao Wu present selected topics in machine learning, cryptography, and game theory.
